Hi guys, I found a '98 Dominator for sale on the net and don't know what it is. The owner can't give me a very good description (not very boat knowledgeable) over the phone. I have a 2002 Alumicraft brochure, can anyone out there tell me which new model the Dominator is most like?
Thanks for the help.

It is replaced by the Navigator series. I don't recall the specifics. Nice, reasonable boat!
Good Luck

16.5ft long, 74" beam, .80 gauge metal, 35-60HP tiller, 35-80HP console. I have a friend who has the tiller and he really likes it. Quite a bang-for-the-buck boat.
Good Luck

E-mail me, I have a Lund for sale which is very similar to a Dominator.
Have a good one!

Yup, Rock2me hit it on the head. I bought a 1993 Alumacraft Dominator new in March of 1994. I had a 50 hp Mariner on it and it would do 34 mph GPS fully loaded. Internal gas tank only held 12 gallons, however, which was a pain.
The boat's narrow beam meant that the port side passenger pedestal base was not even with the driver pedestal base, but set slightly behind it ... like a foot or so I recall. It also was wired for only 12 volt bow troller. Further, being narrow, it tended to act like a knife edge in the water ... would catch fast and turn fast which was both good and bad ... sometimes surprising the driver in a turn.
I traded mine in August 1997 on an Alumacraft Magnum. The advantages of the Magnum are ... more storage, better rod locker (my Dominator had a "wall" under the driver's console which limited the rod length the locker would accept), 22 gallon internal tank, and side-by-side pedestals for driver and passenger to make conversation easier (my wife is my fishing partner and darn good navigator).
Overall, I liked the Dominator and I know my dealer had a buyer ready for it when I traded it in ... so they resell well. But, the Magnum is a better boat.
FYI.
