My wife and I were headed for Mille Lac the first of July. But, I've been told tha**** had so much pressure the last couple of years, that the walleye are real wise. Does anyone know of another lake inn central Minn. that is good for walleye about that time.

I don't need a lodge, just a ramp and a campground.

Thanks in advance

If you have a big boat and are willing to travel farther north try lake of the woods.

I'e got a Alumacraft 185 with a 150 , and go to Ear Falls in June. Even though I'm taking my better half with me, I had probably better stay a little close. I live in Southern Iowa. But, its a thought. Thanks

Go to Mille Lacs. The walleyes there are no smarter than any others, and there are so many more of them. Lundeens Tackle Castle is a continuing source of updated info on the bite, but you'll probably be rigging (long leaders) and slip bobbering. The bait of choice will be crawler and leech.

Ask around and you'll get put onto fish.

Most any where in the Brainerd local is agood place to fish.lots of lakes close to go to. I used to find a central cabin on a lake and like Edwards and go to one lake one day and maybe a diffrent one tne next day. And I live in Missouri.
Buy one of those lake map books, that how I got my info. Elmo

Go to MilleLacs, the fishing is still very good that time of year.Theres a beautiful State Park and Campgrounds on the west side(Kathio State Park)and theres both public and private boat ramps with in 5 minutes of the park, not to mention close access to some of the best fishing areas on the lake at that time of year. You won't be sorry!

Mille Lacs is truely a quality walleye fishery. Currently there is a huge class of 22-27 inch fish in there. There is a 16-20" slot with one over 28". So you will probably catch and release a lot of fish(what a terrible problem to have). That time of year the fish should be in there summer pattern. I've done very well that time of year(especially at night, once the night ban has been lifted). But if your interested in other lakes in central minnesota I'd recommend Green Lake(Spicer), Osakis(Osakis), Minnewaska(Glenwood), Rush(Cambridge), Alexander/Shaminaue(Motley).

P.S. All the Brainerd lakes are great but during the day the water skiers and PWC are a bit overwelming.

If you go to Motley to fish, Fishtrap is a good lake also and the boat ramp is right off the highway.
