I have the 52# thrust model of this motor, and I have returned it once because the lower unit is not lined up with the motor head. It's off by 10 degrees or so. The model that I recieved in excahnge is excatly the same. Anyone else have this model? Could this be how it was designed to be? I can't come up with a logical reason why it would be. Also it cannot be corrected by taking it apart. I've tried. Please help>

Depending on where you sit - having the handle off by 10 degrees could be a great thing. If you are sitting on the wrong side of the off set - this could be a bad thing.
If you can't realign the motor - by either tightning or loosening the motor shaft from the motor - and if there is not enough rotation - to allow you to drill another mounting screw hole in the top of the motor shaft - it is likely that - if you keep this motor- you are going to have to live with it.
It it really bothered you - I would take the motor into a motor guide warrenty repair center - have them take the motor shaft out of the motor - reseal the shaft, and reinstall the shaft. I expect that this would take care of the problem.
I imagine that the shaft is just not screwed into the motor exactly correct - to align the motor head correctly.
Take care
