Hello, I was wondering if you could could give some information about theese rods. Is it worth buying one or not? I was most likely thinking on getting a Guide series, Tourney Trail, or an XML walleye series. Thanks for the info.

I have had very good luck with Cabela's rods. You don't say what type of fishing you will be doing, but for jigging, I like the 6' med. or med./lt. As with everything else, the more you spend the more you'll get as far as sensitivity, guide quality, etc. I also use some Gloomis and St.Croix rods and for the price these rods compare favorably and I've always been treated well on any returns. Try an XML or a fish eagle 2, spend what you can afford to and I think you will be happy. Good fishing.

I was told the blanks are made by Gary Loomis. Can anyone add to this?

I have two of the Guide series rods and have been very happy with them. In that price range it is a top quality rod. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Order one of these and a more expensive rod in the same size and action and compare the two. The seven bucks you spend to send the more expensive one back will be covered by the money you saved on the rod.
I have St Croix, Fenwick and a few other expensive rods but "for the money" I love those Cabelas Guide Series rods.

If you're talking about the Cabela's Pro Guide series, I haven't owned any of them, but the two Tourney Trail rods and one Fish Eagle II rod that I'm using compare favorably (so far) with the St. Croix & G. Loomis rods that I have (all are spinning rods). . .at about half the price.

Having built a number of rods over the years, mostly because I had a hard time finding sticks that met my personal preferences, I have since purchased a couple of rods from Cabela's. I like them. One series in which I'm particularly impressed with is the E-Glass series. Fiberglass rods perform well with the no-stretch lines. And they are moderately priced.
