Anyone have good luck with the lindy snagless hooks with the wire weed guard? I was missing fish after fish so I cut the wire off and then had no problem hooking em (and weeds). Is there a trick to using those hooks?
Two different things that you can try for very tentative fish.
Normally, the way that the hooks come, will work fine for most fish.
However, if you get very light biters you might have to do one or both of the following.
Normally, this is a 7 wire guard.
a. I first will bend down the guard so that most of the wires are actually near or under the hook point. If this doesn;'t solve the porblem,
b. I will use a side cutter and cut off two or three of the 7 wires. Normally, with 3 of the 7 wires cut off, you still get reasonable weed protection, but allow the light biters to inhale the hook.
Finally, if they continue to not get a connection,
I will cut off 4 of the 7 wires.
Take care

Try the weedless floater from Phelps with a bullet sinker. I think Gander Mtn has them. Spongy bug is the name, website is phelpstackle.com
