Just wondering if any other St. Croix(Mn/Wi) boys are on this forum?
I've had such an awsome walleye year out there I wanted to see how others have done. This is by far the best year for keeper numbers I have ever seen. No huge fish though.
I normally am, but haven't hit it yet this year.
We usually go out of Beanies, but fish from Afton to Stillwater, and go up to the upper often. Nice to get away from big boats.
What advice can you give on spots or baits? Thanks,
Box
(ps, I did pretty well on White Bear Lake over the weekend, but nothing last night)

I have been doing great in the Husdon area using spinners and 3 ways with fire tiger raps. I was out on Saturday and we caught over 40 keepers but we also got alot of junk fish

Any of you guys working down by Catfish Bar or Afton State Park?

I have been using nightcrawlers exculsively on 2-3 foot snells. Have experimented and longer snells do not work as well.
Colored #6 or 8 hooks. Red and orange seem to be the hotest but others have worked also. Lately I have been tieing double hook snells for the short biters and have had good luck. Lots and lots of sheephead and there are some huge ones this year. Bigger than I have ever seen. I have been fishing between Afton and Prescott. The river was great during the no-wake because hardly anyone was out.

I have not fished either one of those places yet this year.

One of my favorite spots is back trolling the bridges in Prescott ( when the boat traffic isn't crazy). Then after catching a few in the morning I like to duck into "Hammers" for a couple bloody marys and a burger. Just a perfect day.

Isn't Prescott the greatest place? Where else can you buy booze and food from a store right on the fishing spot? You don't even have to stop fishing!

If I was as hard of a drinker as I am a fisherman I would live there. WS
P.S. Stanton, if you're reading this get the Alumacraft tuned and ready for a trip to Prescott!

Same here. It's the best I've ever seen. This is the first time I have purposely not gone fishing lately because I have already caught so many walleye. I'm looking forward to some bass fishing but it has been hard to pass up the over abundant walleys. I hope the bass fishing for me improves this year over last.
The east side of the drawbridge at Hudson is good for #7 Raps alongside the crib. If you want real fun try little cleo's same place but get more silvers. Actually, anything that moves will get attention of the silvers.
Goingagain Saturday. By fishing inside you also avoid most of the boats, but getthe impaired folk taking shortcuts.
An earlier post somewhere (Lindner) spoke of carp hunting. Follow the railroad on the south side of the dike to the small bridge, plant a crawler out there and there is major action on ugly tough fish.

Hi Guys! I haven't been out as much as I'd like to, but fishing has been very good around the Hudson area. I love fishing the swing bridge and the channel. Like crawlers myself, but plan to deep troll, because friends are doing well trolling. I agree with the giant sheep head. Wow!
I talk to alot of guys out there. Probably seen a couple of you folks.
What are the best spots to launch and how early do you have to get there to get a parking spot?
Thanks!

Launching varies with the weather. On the weekend you can make any of the launches easily if you are there at 06:00. After that it gets tougher the nicer the weather.
