Have been back and forth on the issue of whether or not to get a kicker for an 18 foot Alumacraft powered by a 150. Finally decided that at this point it isn't the best investment for how we fish. We already have a bow mount, but would like a transom mount for better control. We have a 24 volt system - any input or suggestions would be aprreciated.

I have had a 24/volt electric on all the transoms of my boat. I currently run a 20 foot glass boat and use a Minkota Vantage with out any trouble. I know lots of people that are using them on 18-20 ft. boats without any trouble. If its too windy to hold with the electric then I switch over to gas. I would guess that I can hold well in winds approching 15 miles an hour although the more wind that there is the faster I run the batteries down. Hope this helps somewhat in your desicion...
