I think mine is called a richter. Great anchor, but pricey. Never had a problem holding the boat in the wind with my 20'.

While your looking for that anchor make sure you have enough rope for it. I carry 150' of 3/8" rope(I know a lot of guys who carry 200'+) with 4' of chain between the rope and anchor. Most people who have trouble holding position in the wind are not using enough rope. If I'm anchoring in a lot of wind I generally have at least 80' if in 10' or less. I forget the ratio of depth to rope ratio thew navy uses but it's around 5:1 give or take a few. I use a 20 lb navy anchor with a 16' lund preditor loaded to the gills with gear and have rarely slipped at all.

Good Luck!

Pretty interesting that each of you said the same anchor, and the other anchor that is mentioned look almost identicle. Anybody know how these compare to the Water Spike.

Actually there is quite a bit of difference in the ProAnchor and the Richter. The Richter has roundish pointed tines coming out of the body a couple inches or so from the bottom, the ProAnchor has flat angled flukes mounted on the bottom of the anchor. Where Richter has 1 reverse pullout, ProAnchor has 2 (1 will always be up, no matter how the anchor grabs). The flat flukes on ProAnchor should hold better on soft bottoms (more resistance than the round spikes on the Richter. Both are good anchors but I think the ProAnchor has a couple advantages over the Richter.

Make sure you're rope is attached before your buddy throws it in the lake --had a buddy do that once.

It was funny then too I had him up to his chinny chin chin in water searching with his tippy toes. Lucky for him it was a warm day and lucky for him he found it. That school teacher will do anything to keep his wallet closed.

Do you guys using the Richter anchors think they would be far superior to a 32 pound navy anchor?

The Richter anchor also holds with less rope length than most anchors and releases easier than the Water Spike when hung up. My Water Spike is hanging in the garage.

Go with Pro Anchor by Guidemaster. I have held my 17 ft. Lund Pro-V with the 18 lb in 25 MPH winds with only 25 ft of rope. My old 28 LB navy would have taken over 50 ft of rope to maybe hold in the same wind. This was on a sand bottom which is the hardest to hold. It is the design of the anchor not the weight to hold. Someone finally designed an anchor that will hold with out a mile of rope out.

I just got off Lake Minnetonka today, and man was it windy. I was only out there for a couple of hours cause the weather got pretty intense. But I tell ya-I just made some good use of my Guidemasters Pro-Anchor. It was virtually impossible to get out of the wind for crappie fishing today, and once the anchor hit ground, I didnt move. There had to been waves 3-4 feet high, and I didnt move off my spot once. I use the 18lb anchor for my 17 1/2 Yar-Craft and it hasnt failed me yet!

Anybody ever use a 'Digger' anchor? Was wondering how it compared?

Well I already have a 32 lb navy anchor so if it will hold I can't justify spending the cash on the new one. I will keep this information mind though.
