I am purchasing a new fish finder and have a few questions. I have a 12foot boat, and only have enough room for one trolling motor battery. It's a fairly large battery. It's a big Stowaway with 6 terminals (3+, 3-). Can i hook my fishfinder, lets say a Garmin 100 blue, stright up to my 12 volt battery? How much power would it draw from my battery? Can i run my trolling motor, which is a very small one (28lbs thrust), at the same time as my sonar? Thanks a lot.

1 other thing....make sure your fish sonar unit has an inline fuse.

I ran everything for years on my old boat without problems. Moreover I supported a sonar all week on a fly in without any problem using a garden tractor battery. The problem that you may encounter is the reverse issue. When your trolling motor starts sucking the last of the juice from the battery, the sonar will start to "brown out" on you due to the lack of voltage. That is to say the display will disappear when the motor is on and reappear when it is off. The engineering guys here at my plant tell me there is no problem until this condition starts. While low voltage situations can sometimes be a problem with integrated circuits, it SHOULD be engineered to not have a problem with this.
No problem. it will work fine. recharge it overnight. I did this for years. If possible, keep a spare fully charged battery ready to go just in case you need it.
Should work like a champ for you WW, but you really should have an inline fuse on the graph.

If your concerned about running out of juice, keep a spare 12v gell cell in the boat with you. Won't take up any room. They cost $25.00.
