I have a 2002 Lund with NoFeed Back Tilt Steering.. Steering wheel is off center, approx 1/4 turn to the left.. Removing the steering wheel is easy (3 small bolts and 1 nut in the center) but does not solve my problem by repositioning it,... looks like I have to disconnect the steering cable and redo.. Anyone done this it does look easy. I do not want to take a trip to the dealer for a simple task.

I have never seen a steering wheel mounted on a boat that is trully centered or stays centered. Simple solution - replace steering wheel with a four or six spoked design that always looks centered. Somebody at Crestliner should be reading this as the centering problem really manifests itself on hydraulic steering systems. Good Luck.

I just adjust my Lund so that it would steer straight. And this weekend when you have people in the boat, it was off steering again.
I think it also depends on the balance of load in the boat.

Might be doing it for nothing.

The steering wheel is off weather I am alone or with 3 persons aboard... By looking at the motor with the steering wheel straight you can see it was hooked up improperly.. Yes, I am Picky but after spending $20K plus you bet I am going to be picky.

Remove the center plug on the steering wheel that says, "Lund", and snap it back on with Lund facing the right direction. Done!

loosen the four bolts that hold the rack and pinion together, and let the pinion turn without moving the rack, til the wheel is close to being centered, then retighten the bolts. It may not be perfect, but should get it close.

DEAR SIR

I WOULD TAKE THE CENTER PLUG OUT OF STEERING WHEEL AND LOSEN NUT. PUT ON THE NUT SO IT IS FLUSH WITH THREAD. TAKE A HAMMER AND POUND ON THE NUT ON AND PULL ON STEERING WHEEL AT SAME TIME. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE MOTOR STRAIGHT FIRST. THEN LOOSEN NUT PULL OFF STEERING WHEEL. THEN PUT IT ON STRAIGHT AND TIGHTEN NUT BACK UP.THAT IS HOW I WOULD DO THAT.

Unless you are a perfectionist, let it go and deal with it.

My experience with my boat had me thinking the same way. I removed and reinstalled the wheel in a new position. After that, I noticed that many things affect steering wheel position. Boat speed(from idle to full speed), trim, weight, etc all seemed to change steering wheel position. If you do decide to change it, get an idea where it is in all situations. Good luck
