I have been looking for a comfortable lifejacket. I don't want an inflatable. Also, I would prefer a bright color. If I really ever need it, I want to be floating around in a bright color so somebody sees me and helps me out. Also, while I am a good swimmer (at least I was in my younger days), I would like something I can wear fulltime.

Do have a favorite? Where did you find it?

Thanks for the input.

if you dont care how much you spend there are some really
nice "jacket" type life jackets out there that are very
lightwieght and look comfortable.

but, i bought a bright blue life vest that has webbing on the upper part. it is pretty much like the standard life jacket except for the webbing which makes it very comfortable. and it costs the same as the other standard vests. it is lightweight
and doesnt feel like a lifevest.

Everyone in my boat wears a PFD, or the mooring lines are not taken in.

Since I'm that hardnosed, I owe it to my passengers to have something comfortable to fish in. The most comfortable good (under $100.00) non-inflatables I've found are the Stearns "Competitor" models. Good looking, bright colors, and they're designed to keep your nose out of the water, even if you're unconscious. I think they run about $60.00.

I also have a life jacket with the mesh on the shoulders and back. It really allows good movement and you hardly even know you have it on. I fish by myself a lot and have decided that I will where a life jacket when ever I am out alone. This jacket has really worked out well. I got mine from Bass Pro, Cabelas also sells one like it.

Fritz:
The mesh jackets are by far more comfortable than the older types. Stearns and maybo others makes 'em for the USCG and other LE officers that must wear them for 8 - 16 hours a day! I just ordered some from http://www.lifesavingsystems.com/ in international orange.

I took a quick browse through the catalog and I could not find the price. How much do they cost?

Thanks,
