I purchased a 'mint' conditioned 1850 Lund Tyee with a 150 Johnson to push it along. I never had it out yet, but the walleye are hitting good while trolling!

I have a Mercury 20hp that runs good.......don't have it hooked up to the Lund...it's steering or anything...but I'd love to put it on the back of the boat tommorrow for a trolling motor?

Can I just mount it and use it for a trolling motor? Can I mount it off the back away from the Johnson.

Leaving tommorrow morning for a two day trip......sure would like to do this, but don't know if there's a possibility of doing something wrong?

It's a 1993 Lund Tyee Gran Sport Series...the Motor is a Johnson 1992 150 SpitFire? Please help!

You shouldn't have any problem mounting the 20HP as a kicker so long as you're ok with running it as a tiller and have the fuel situation figured out (either can hook it to your primary line or have a portable tank). Generally most mount the kicker on the port side.

Good luck..

As long as your 20hp Merc is a "longshaft", made for 20inch boat transom you should have no problems. If its a "shortshaft" for a 15inch transom, you may not be able to use it on the the Tyee, although you can mount it first to see if the shaft will extend far enough below the bottom of the boat. You may get away with it depending on where you end up mounting it,if just using for trolling. As far as fuel, since that 20hp motor requires pre-mix (unless it was a 4 stroke,,you didnt say) you will need to fuel it from the portable tank, not your boat's primary onboard tank.
