Rick,
I have the same motor on a 18' SmokerCraft. I get about the same speed. I can slow it down a little by trimming my main motor all the way down, and dropping my bow mount electric in the water. If I want to go really slow, I drag a small drift sock.

I have a 9.9 Honda Power Thrust on a 1800 Pro V and normally get a little lower speed than that trolling forward. I believe my rig goes .8 to .9 mph in glass water with two people.

I run a honda 9.9 on my 20' alaskan for a kicker and had the same problem. Pick up a prop that is several pitches lower and you will be able to troll slower. On calm days I troll backwards and barely move. Also you can try a drift sock tied very close to the bow and this will slow you down.

I have a 15 Honda on my Alumacraft Tournament Pro 170. I had the same problem, up until I adjusted the idle screw on the carbs. I got the RPMs so low I was not moving at all according to my GPS! There is one screw on the carb that will tone down the RPMs, so try it on the water sometime.
