Any idea on how much it would cost to fix or replace a bent axle? Trailer is for a 17' aluminum, single axle. Is this something a regular Joe could do or, leave it to the pros? Thanks for any input!

I did it 2 years ago, champion trailers on the internet will custom build you what you need, I got a 3500lb straight axle 2X3" tubing 1/4" thick walls, the axle tubing is the same as used on a 5000lb axle so I feel good that I will not bend this one. The cost was $119 plus ups ground shipping, you can get cheaper axles if yours is a standard size. It is nice not burning a set of tires off every season.....

A lot depends on what you have for an axle now? Torsion, slipper,double-eye? Was it bolted on or welded on by the manufacturer?
Worst case would be a torsion that was welded, best case a slipper that is bolted. You'll need to measure overall lenght, hubface(between the places were the rim touches the hub on both sides), and the spring center( the pin in the center of the leafsprings). With that information in hand a call to 877-787-2453 will get you information on a replacement axle. Then an hour or so will get you back on the road.
