Got a 60 hp 1994 Merc and during idle it will "buck" and at times will kill. Any ideas!!
My guess is that one or more carbs are partially gummed up, and one or more of the cylinders are running lean. I think it would be money well spent to have all carbs gone through and synched.
Of course, if you haven't already done so - make sure that you have new plugs and fresh gas.

I have a 60 hp merc (94) and this happpened to me when it was new, mechanic tried everything and then called factory for help, they helped. You will find two check valves on the valve on the fuel line (where you pump up the pressure), take the one on the motor side out and leave it out. This might sound funny but it sure worked for me. I had it in shop several times until this was done and it has been five years since it was done and I haven't had a problem.
