I somehow tore the carpeting on one of the bunks on my new rig. I have no where launch and leave my boat while I repair it. The tear is to the rear of one of the rear main support bunks. My question is, can I put a jack under the back (center) of my new Pro V 1900 to lift the boat high enough to make repairs without worrying about the stress on the hull? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Takes about 15 minutes to replace the carpet. Just have the stapler with Monel staples ready and dump the boat in the water at the local lake. Tie it off to the side and pull the trailer into the parking lot and rip off the old carpet and staple on the new.

Buy a new board at the lumber yard. Put the new carpet on at home.
Switch boards at launch. Eight screws with portable drill and socket
wrench. Re carpet old board or another new board for the next time.
There well be a next time!! Takes twenty minites or less. Measure twice, Drill once!! I did all four last spring, one at a time in about one hour.

I did both of mine last year. I bought 2 new treated 2x4's and some indoor/outdoor carpet. All I did was used a jack and jacked up one side took off the board and replaced it and did the same to the other board. Was done in 40 minutes.

Jacking your boat can be a huge hassle. I did it once and it was much more problematic than I imagined. My hull was fiberglass and I stressed it quite a bit. I ended up needing two people to bail me out. In my opinion, jacking the boat in the convenience of your backyard or garage is an unnecesary risk compared to 15 minutes or heck, even an hour at the boat landing.
What are Monel staples? I checked at a local hardware store, and Fleet Farm. No one has any idea what they are. I need to replace the carpet on my bunks, too. Thanks!

Home Depot carries them. Is a type of stainless. Is 66% nickle and 3% iron and most of rest is copper. Rust free staples. last I bought were about $13 / thousand. Arrow makes them.
