I am considering this as my next boat and would appreciate any input you have. Is there anything you don't like about your boat. If you had to do it over again would you still purchase this boat or look at something else? I would put a Suzuki DP140 hp four stroke on this boat. What would be the top speed with this boat and motor combination.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I own an Alumacraft Tournament Pro 175 CS with an F115 Yamaha 4-stroke
and T8 Yamaha kicker. I looked at Crestliner and Lund also before I bought this rig. I measured depth inside from floor to top, width between inside walls, bow area width and length and overall length inside from console to rear splash well. I decided on the TP175 because of overall more interior space, depth and larger bow area as I spend a lot of time over my bow mount electric motor. All of these boats and others are great boats. Mine will run 42mph loaded with 2 200# plus guys in it by the gps. I also added a passanger console for comfort of fishing partner. If I were to do it again, I would go to the new Tournament Sport with the full windshield. It has more room, better seat placement and a better rod storage compartment in the bow floor. Over all it is a boat you will not be dissapointed in. As far as speed with the Suzuki 140 I would expect at least the 45 mark in speed. Also if I were to do it again, I would keep my T8 kicker and go to at least a 150 if Yamaha comes out with it in a 4 stroke as I would like a slight bit more speed just for the fun of it.

We have '97 TP175 with Merc 150 efi. Do a search for "Box" and you will see where I posted several times for people looking for thoughts from owners.

We are very pleased with our rig. It is our third alumacraft. I personally would not go lower than a 150 hp on this boat. but it all depends on what you expect. I expect 45 or more GPS speed with three fat guys and gear. :) I get that with a 150.

You would like the boat, especially with the improvements they have made since the 97 we have (the first year it was made). But we still like our boat after 5 much-used years on it.

I have a 2000 175 cs with a 150 hp Optimax and I absolutely love it.

I went with a second console and everytime my wife comes with I'm glad I have it. Exspecially if it's raining or cold. :)

In retrospect I would go with a 175 Optimax if I was to do it again. Only because the boat is rated for the 175 and my buddy picked up one with a 150 Yamaha. :)

As far as using this setup for tubing or ski'ing. It doesn't work very well. I've tried it once and had so many prop blow outs I gave up. That could be because of how my boat is setup, I'm not sure.

The gist, This is my second Alumacraft and I would definately buy another.

JJ,

Your prop (whatever it is) is not good for skiing then, as this boat and motor combo is a skiers dream, with the right prop. We have a Hi-5, and while it might not go as fast as the boat could, the hole shot even with a fat skier getting up on one ski is like a rocket. With a hi-5 I garauntee you that you will NOT blowout under any condition, unless trimmed very hi - ridiculously high.

Try a different prop if you plan to ski, and I think you will find the same.
Good luck.
