I have a 225 Opti and mine does 62mph gps. This is with a average load. I would definately recomend the Triton. If you do not want to pay the new price, I have a 2000 205 in the Walleye Central classifieds for $26,500. E-mail me if you are interested at Valkaree@aol.com. There is a picture with the ad.

Got a 1999/205DC/9.9-4 stroke/200 opti/24 pitch trophy plus and she will do 70-75 mph on land and 64.3 mph(gps) on water. This is with a light load. This spring when I was in Canada, FULLY loaded the best was 57.5. She handles the rought stuff very well, compared to my 17' bassboat! Only other boat that I can compare to is a 17' lund w/25 hp
and ther is no comparing the 2. Apples to oranges in both cases.
So far, I love the boat. Best sugestion is to go test drive one!

Dean, I am a diehard Triton fan but I will be the first to say that Ranger makes a great boat. The ride is almost identical. The Ranger has alittle more weight in the bow. This is why Triton is faster than Ranger. With the speed comes a price. The Ranger has a better hole shot than the Triton. I remedied this by putting my trolling motor batteries up front and also have 2 25lb anchors in front. This is not needed but does help. Even without all that the boat handles like a dream. The biggest difference between the two is that the Triton has a better layout and more room for storage. The front deck is bigger and you can put a 9' rod in the enormous rod locker. I have had this boat out in the worst of the worst and have had no problems. The biggest problem with the Triton is the location of the large livewell plug. It is way in the back and hard to reach. Triton makes a boat to suit the way I fish to a tee. The fit and finish is amoung the best as well as the warranty. To anyone out there buying a boat, you would be foolish to not look at a Triton. If anybody in the Lake Winnebago area is interested in a test ride, E-mail me at Valkaree@aol.com. And no I am not sponsored by Triton.

P.S. The new powerhead is on and running fantastic. I think Merc has all the bugs out. Good luck with yours, just remember to break it in properly.
John,
I saw a article in Bass&Walleye Boat magazine a couple of months back on the 205 with a 225 four stroke(if I remmember correctly), and it had the top speed at 58mph. On my 2000 205 with a merc. 225 it runs about 60mph(on gps) with full tourn. load and a elevation of 5000ft - 6000ft which derates the motor about 20%-25%. My 205 is a little rougher riding than a 620, but way way more smoother than my lund prov was.

Fast enough to crack up, just ask Hookin!

That was cold... Very funny! - But cold......
After Hookin, I would second guess a TRITON (Right or Wrong?)
Fish for them all...

The June 2002 B&WB had the Triton 205 running a F225 at 55.5 mph and a BF225 at 54.9 mph.
