Hi Jeff,

Your request is a common one here.

Most folks end up finding a breach in the livewell fill/drain system somewhere. Can you see all of the parts when your boat is in the water? If so then you can follow the trickle to it's source.

Others find their leaks by putting some water in the boat while it's on the trailer and finding where the water leaves the boat. Don't put so much water in the boat that you crush your trailer.

In one similar thread, REW suggested to the requestor that he could plug the livewell intake/drain holes and launch the boat. If the problem goes away then you know it's the livewell/drain system. I think this is a really easy test for identifying one of the higher probability causes. I don't remember his suggested stopper method but on my Lund it was easy to just screw off the screens and screw on a cap.

No sense having buyers remorse. Getting leaks is a brand neutral phenomenon.

Same boat and I am also taking on water. It was fine last year -dry as a bone.

This year it started with just a little and has worked it's way up. I am taking her out again tomorrow. I think mine is coming from the front livewell. Another trip tomorrow should give me some ideas.

I must have left some water in the lines over winter......just guessing at this point.

Good Luck

Everyone that owns these Crestliners should check to see if the wood in the transom is wet as well. My 2000 1750 Sportfish was doing this also. It turned out that the plastic drains for the splashwell were not sealed at the factory nearly well enough. At times these splashwell drain holes are under the water line. Mine was taking on a lot of water and the water was seeping down thru the wood transom. After removing and thoroughly cleaning the plastic pieces, I let the transom wood drain for about a week and then used 3M 5200 to re-connect them. No problems since. If your transom wood is wet, this is more than likely the source of the problem.

The first time that I took out my new boat, it nearly sank.
Over the winter at the dealers lot - it had apparently had some water end up in the livewell, and into the drain hoses. When the cold came -the water froze and split both the fill and drain hoses going to the livewell.

After plugging the livewell holes - to keep the boat from sinking, I found the problem, and replaced all of the hoses.

No further problems.

When I pulled the hoses, each hose had about a 6 inch split in the hose, where the water had settled and frozen, and split the hose.

Take care

I too have water seeping in some how, I thought it was just the "rush" over the transome when I quickly cut the throttle....Ill have to investigate now. I have a 2001 1650.....Now, here's food for thought.......Our 2001's are under the factory warranty.......maybe we should send Crestliner a message and take them ALL into our Dealers on the same day. I loved this boat until, I realized how cheaply it was made. From the poor construction to the poor paint job........After I pay off this boat...time to look at the Alumacraft Tourny series.

I thought the same thing. I also thought maybe my boat cover had a leak in it. Oh well it will probably go back to the dealer this weekend. My fishing will probably be done for the year if they send it back to the manufacture....

Well, head her out today on White Bear. The fishing was tough and the waves were there - from all the jet skiers and wakeboarders.

I spent 6 hours on the water and I would periodically hit the bilge to see if water was getting in - nothing. Before launching the boat I closed the front livewell fill screw. I used the baitwell all day. Nothing - no water to report. Looked in the access panel and could not see anything.

It appears that it must be the front livewell drain that is leaking. I'll have to check her out in the driveway now.

I'll keep ya' posted.

Good Luck

I was getting some water in my Fishhawk earlier this year. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Put some water in the rear of the boat while on the driveway and found out the plug was dripping. Discovered I wasn't screwing the plug on tight enough. I was hand tightening, and that was not tight enough. Once I turned the plug an extra turn with a wrench, the leak stopped and I've been dry since.

Based upon my experience, I suggest you start with the simplist things and then work your way towards other possible problems only if necessary.
