I work for Zercom (Techsonic Industries) and I have been successful in working with others who have not been able to obtain high-speed readings on their LPG 2000's. There is another set of menus (Super-Users menu group) that give additional adjustments that may be of use them and we have made a change recently that will help those who have had this problem.
I will add that it may not always be possible to get a high-speed reading on every boat due to its hull construction. This is a particular problem when dealing with aluminum hulled boats. We use a Tracker Pro Team 18 (DC) and I have been able to obtain readings up to 45mph.
If you know of anyone who may be having this problem with their LPG 2000, please have them contact me.

Greg,
Thanks for putting your information out here on Walleye Central.
I'm getting a new boat next year, and plan on putting the 2000 on my console, and a 160 on the bow.
My fishing partner has a 2000 on his boat, and Its a great unit. We can actually see the fish coming up as you reel it in. Also we dropped a penny off the transom and it tracks it all the way to the bottom! I didn’t play with it much, but from what I see, it works just fine at high speeds.
IS there a transducer that can run both of these units? Or are separate transducers required for each unit?
Also, will these units be compatible with Minnkota's new Trolling motor Transducers

Thanks for the information - I like the unit and will purchase it - I don't fish at 45 mph / 25 LOL.

Walleye Jason,
It may be possible to run both the LPG 2000 and Z160 off the same transducer but I don't know what the results would be. The transducer for the LPG 2000 has two elements inside of it, the Z160 only one. I guess that you could try it, as it won't hurt either depth sounder.
I don't know if either of these will work with any of the transducers that are coming out in any of the different manufactures trolling motors. I would expect that the LPG 2000 would suffer the most if used with anyone else's transducer.
By the way, e-mail me when you get your LPG 2000 and Z160. I have some information on the additional Super-Users menu group that both of these depth sounders have that is not in the manual.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-07-01 AT 09:07PM (CST)[p]Greg,
Could you please send me that " Super Users" stuff as well, we've been using our LPG 2000 for the last couple years and love it! However, the only problem we encountered is that we "out run" it at about 45mph. This may be due to the fact that our transducer is shooting through the hull(was originally a loaner from a sponsor, and we didn't want to drill holes for something we had to return). Perhaps you can give us some insight as to why this problem occurs; and what, if anything, we can do to fix it. Nonetheless, we think it's a great unit and have yet to find one better. Thanx in advance,
Sam Bartels

W'eyes Guy,
I'll have to e-mail you the information, as it will take up some room. I'll send you two; one with the Super-Users information and the second with some things to try for high-speed readings.
