Purchased a 1850 sportfish with a 150 optimax. Currently running a stainless 19 pitch turbo prop. Alone with minimal gear I get a max of 5100 RPM's and about 47 MPH.

Is this about where I should be??

Your speed is right on with the revs you're getting. However, I would give serious consideration to trying some different props to get your WOT closer to 5600 revs. Maybe a small hub Trophy 19 will get you there.

Small hub? What is that?

That sounds like low rpm's but I am comparing it to my 1850 Fishhawk with a 150 Opti.
When she was new the dealer started with a stainless 23, was pushing 58, but only turning 51-5200 RPM's.
Went down to a 21, still too low for acceptable RPM's
Settled on a 19 stainless Vengeance. It will get close to 53 in a pretty naked boat. 3/4 tank gas, 2 guys, lots of big musky boxes, it'll do 46 turning nearly 5500 RPM's.

I don't know how much diferent the sportfish is to the fishhawk, but it can't be much. Hope this helps.

p.s. I think the acceptable RPM range on the 150 Opti is 5200-5700, or thereabouts.

The fishhawk has a 11 degree deadrise while the Sportfish has a 17 degree deadrise. The 11 degree will hammer you in rough water while the 17 degree will handle it somewhat better cutting the waves. The 11 degree is easier to plane for the 150, while the 17 degree will require alittle more power. I have a 1850 Sportfish with a 175 Ficht running a tin prop 19 X 14.5 and she files. On plane with 3 guys pretty quick and 5500 RPM's takes me near 58 mph vs GPS. Hope this helps.

For another comparison I have a 1850 Sportfish with a 135 Optimax and 19 pitch 3 blade aluminum that gets 48 mph at 5500 rpms with full tank of fuel, two guys and all the gear. Motor is mounted in its lowest position.

Do you think I need to go to a 17 pitch prop or is there something else I should check?

Is there a big differnce in SS props? I'm running a 19 pitch Turbo is there a better one?
