I'm considering a 2003 20' Alaskan and was wondering if the ride in (2-3 footers)in the 20'5" boat would be better, worse or the same as a 18' ProV? What I'd really like is a 20' IPS hull without all the extra stuff and of course cost of a 1900 or 2025 ProV, too bad Lund does not make a 20' Pike, Angler or Explorer.

Also can the the 20 Alaskan be special ordered with carpeting? (I thought I remember reading in an old post that someone said you can)

Can you special order a port side console similar to the Pike port side console with removable winshield without going to the walkthrough windshield model. One additional question is the 20' available with the new track system on the gunnel for rod holders, etc.. that you see on the 18' in the new 03 Lund brochure?

Thanks,

I have a 20' Alaskan that I just love. We fish Lake Erie in 2-4 footers no problem. All kinds of rod storage with a 9' locker on one side. Check out Boattrader.com, I saw one for sale in there with several good pictures.

Good luck!

I have a 20' Alaskan , it can handle 2-3's no problem. I have never seen a dual console Alaskan with removable windshields.

GOOD LUCK

I would suggest calling Lund. Ask for the customer service department. I did this a while back to see what the minimum HP they suggested for the 20' Alaskan. The guy I talked to was very helpful. There number is posted on www.lundboats.com

I'm now looking at this boat, with a 75hp 4 stroke engine on it. What would I expect for performance.

Would this be a good 'do-all' option for someone fishing river systems, to Mille Lacs, to Lake Mich Salmon trolling (just a couple of times a year).

Thanks.

I have a 2003 tiller with a Yamaha 70hp two stroke and see 32-33 GPS with full load and driver only.Performance does not suffer much with loaded boat. With my family of 5 I still obtain GPS speeds of 30-31 mph.I would expect you will see speeds in the mid 30's since the new boats have the IPS hull and the 75hp fourstroke is a much "stronger" motor.

There used to be a performance bulletin on Yamaha's website,
showed a tiller w a 80 four stroke. Think they got 38 out of it
if I remember correctly?

Lund is making 2010 Explorer SS and Sport for 2008, rated for 200hp. The 2000 Alaskan SS is a nice boat, lots of room, but it hasn't got any frills, only one livewell, gauges aren't even standard (but available). Its only rated for 125hp. I wouldn't run it with less than a 90. The 2010 Explorer is a MUCH heavier boat requiring at least a 135hp.

Hopefully we aren't hijacking this thread, but:
2010 Explorer is what I ordered for myself.
I drove one last weekend w/200 Verado. It ran really well @ 53-54mph. Tons of room and storage. Far less money than a Pro-V.

What would a ballpark price be on the 2010 Explorer set up like the one you drove T-Mac?
