My bow mount Motor Guide 767 "trips out" when I run it for more than about a minute at more than 3/4 speed. After 10 seconds or so, it resets, but trips again after some heat builds up. I figure there is a bad switch or the motor has bad run windings. I don't recall the motor running for an extended period out of water, but it is a used 1999. If anyone has experienced this problem, please let me know the fix. There are only two Motor Guide service centers in Wisconsin and both are two hours away. I don't want to have more than the trip to drop it off and the trip to pick it up if I have to take it in. Thanks for help!!!

Check all of your electrical connections for a loose connection. The high resistance caused by a loose connection will draw more current than normal and depending on the motor load you can draw enough current to trip your breaker. Check voltage at the motor when it is running. You can also test resistance of the motor windings in each speed and look for a drop in resistance indicating shorted windings. That will cause it to draw more current than designed.

Good Luck.
