Just returned from a wonderful trip on Lac Seul flying out of Andersons Lodge. However, I had a problem with my Eagle Ultra fish finder. When I would first turn it on the images were nice and clear with bright blue colors, but after a short period of time the image would fade until I could hardly see it. The information was all there, but not bright enough to read.

Has anyone experienced any problem with this. I have had the unit for several years and this is the first problem I have encountered.

Can anyone give me some information on how to fix this or should I send it to the company? I increased all the gain, etc. but that didn't help.

Thanks in advance...eyesnatcher

I think you will have to be looking for a new depth sounder. My eagle ultra has the problem, of the 3 buttons on the lower left side not working. I contacted eagle and they said they no longer have parts to fix a unit that old. They suggested I contact my local retailer for a more modern unit.

Here is what I would try if it were me..Re-check all of the connections (if you haven't already) turn the unit on and feel the transducer..Just grab it and see if it is making a ticking sound..If not-there's the rub!!You can order new transducers through BPS or Cabelas for $30 to $50 if they still make one that old..Cheaper than buying a new unit..
Good Luck

Buzzer is right as a last chance check your power connections and transducer connections, with newer borrowed appartus. That grap has compatibility with most other electronics by connecter color (the main connections power/trans GRAY threaded or black plug in) Both Lowrance and Eagle. So you have a wide variety of graphs that would be of use for this. Severre transducer wearing and scratch distortion, try this get steak fat gob it on the bottom of the transducer, with no wind melt the fat and scratches with a lighter, do not wipe hot! Cool and clean as well as possible might save transducer. This is just shy of replacing!
