That was $3000.00 for the boat upgrade. Don't forget to add the motor upgrade price also. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I recently priced one with 250 Evinrude. No kicker or electric trolling motor but some of the detail options. $40,900.00

With a Merc 250 efi saltwater the base price for just the boat and motor $ 38000.00 . With a kicker and all the other accessories you will need to pursue walleye , right around $44000.00 tax not included . Can I put you down for two . Man what a chunk of change .

$44,000 for a boat, $38,000 for a suburban and the price per pound for walleyes just went up again. But it sure feels good to ride in style with good equipment.

Let's just say that a rich uncle died and left me 44,000 dollars. With that much cash, I could buy a very nice, NEW walleye rig and a very nice tow vehicle. This rig would enable me to catch just as many walleyes as the Ranger would. I just don't get get it, paying twice as much for a boat that just doesn't give you twice the product. Sure, they are smooth, fast, and fishable, but not that much more than a regular boat (and yes, I've fished from one). I will pay for a premium product if it really delivers more than the standard. Yes, Rangers are nice but are they worth twice what a 20K rig would be? My answer is no.

A $20,000 rig isn't much. Yes it will get you a decent boat, probably a 17 ft aluminum with a 115-130 and a kicker and all accesories. But there is no way that boat will fish like a $40,000 620 or tuffy, etc... If i had the money, i'd put it all towards the boat, the tow vehicle only needs to get you there and back.:)

WOW, I sure hope the people that buy these boats can use them year around. I would hate those payments when the boat is in the garage for the winter. Glad I bought a Tundra.

Wouldn't 20K get you a Pro V 1775 or a Mr. Pike 18 w/ say a 135? I'm not trying to start a fight, I just thought that would be close. If I am correct or in the ballpark, then that is one ##### of a walleye rig isn't it? Again, I can't argue with the Ranger but 20K should buy you a quality new tin boat.

I fished the RCL last year on Erie as a co angler and prefished all week in a new 620.The boat was very nice but I would not trade my 7000.00 Erie boat for the 620 even up.They are a good boat for other bodies of water but for Erie they are not. With the conditions we had all week the pro could not run the boat more than 25 MPH in 3 foot waves without getting beat up. So much for needing a 225 Hp on it.On Erie give me a 7000.00 23 ft Sportcraft and I still have money for a new Truck to tow it with.

Try glide rides, then see if you can handle the 3 footers.

How do you like your tundra...I hear they are coming out with a 21 footer in the fall and I'm real interested. A long time ago I told myself I'd never buy a Tracker....but they do seem to have come up with a nice boat. Please tell me how you like your Tundra!
Ahhhh

You'd change your mind about Rangers if you had to run 30 miles in 7 footers. And if that still don't convince ya, nothing will. hey man, I aint tryin to bash ya or any boat brand, but as you pointed out, there is a rig that suits you fine, in a price range you like. I can deal with that. But I am not posting here telling you what I think is right for me should be right fao anyone. Again, I am not bashing at ya.
Some valid observations

You are right. If a guy was to fish Erie all the time, maybe a different boat may be in order. But a lot of guys have Rangers there too. And, anyone that would take a Ranger over 25mph in rough water deserves to visit the Chiropractor. As to the so much for needin the 225, here you miss the boat. To effectively manuver an open boat like a Ranger (Tuffy, Triton, Yarcraft, insert boat name here) you need the horsepower to be able to manuver the boat and pick up the nose now. If you under power a boat like these, you may have a tough time taking control of the situation. I would stack my Ranger up against anyboat you have in 6 footers. I can get there about as fast as you, about as dry as you (in most cases) and with my back the way it was built.

Is there a point to your post? My glass boat goes out nearly year round. If it is too miserable or cold I don't go as I am not stupid and don't want to be fooling around in a boat in very bad conditions. Fall in once in the hard part of winter, it may be the last time you do.

Hello,
If you are going to buy a new boat I would take a look at the Tundra. It has more room than any other 18' on the market. Very stable and dry ride in rough water. Just a joy to fish from. Many trips to lake Erie and the boat has performed outstanding. I would like to see the layout of the 21' . My friend and his partner are going to buy one of them this winter they fish the Masters and some of the P.W.T tournaments. I've had them both out in my boat and they said they have never been in a more comfortable boat. They were sold on a Ranger till they fished from the Tundra. Price has something to do with it also. Love this boat it's worth a look-see.

Ya, add $400 per seat on top of that 40,000 so it rides better.

My point is payments on a $40,000 + boat I just don't see the cost of a Ranger compared to other manufacturers. If I thought the Ranger was worth $17,000 - $20,000 dollars more than my Tundra I would have bought one. By no means am I bashing Ranger they are a fine boat. When I bought my boat the room compared to Ranger was one of the big sellers for me. I can't wait to see the room in the Ranger 621 and compare to the new 21' Tundra. I also own two glass boats and glass was not the issue price was.
I think everyone has lost direction with this post...he's not asking about 6 footers or 30 miles or old/new truck/ or buying a cheaper boat...he is asking for opinions from people who know rangers of any changes good or bad. If you have the money...who cares...are you telling me a BMW/Lexus doesn't get you from point A to B just the same as a Saturn...so why do I see these vehicles on the road..just like Rangers/Triton/Skeeter--because they have the money and want something nice.

I was just thinking that if I do buy a new boat to fish for walleye I would buy one of the three R C L just in case I ever figure out how to catch walleye . Of those three I would buy the Ranger ,it would be nice to already own a Ranger so I could fish the RCL when I figure it out ( fishing ) that is .
go ranger

tk, I couldn't agree with you more. No the boat probably won't catch more fish but you'll probably have more fun trying:)

I know it's off topic a bit,i haven't heared from the warrior owners. I heard they had waranty issues a while ago. Did they improve on this?
also, are champion walleye boats still around? Are they any good?
One more question, why doesn't Tracker make a tiller tundra?
