View Full Version : Blown fuse

After consideration of the many comments made in response to my post about Tracker boats about three weeks ago, I went ahead bought one. I have one small problem that I'd like to try and solve myself before I go back to the dealer.

I have a '99 Jeep Cherokee. Twice when I have hooked up the trailer and turn on the headlights, the 10 amp left parking light fuse has blown. Consequently, the left parking light on the Jeep goes out, as do all the parking lights on the tralier. This does not affect any of the other lights on the trailer. It only seems to occur after I have put the trailer in the water.

Any thoughts on solving this problem would be helpful. Thanks.

Sounds like the light fixtures on the trailer are not waterproof. It get's wet and shorts out. Check the seals on the trailer lights.

If Jim is correct - in that one or both of your tail lights are letting water in; you might simply unplug your lights before backing into the water.

After taking the boat out - and then getting every thing rigged for the road - then and only then, plug the lights back in. If water is getting in and shorting out the lights, this should allow enough time for the water to drain back out.

If this persists, you might consider the installation of the westbar tail light system, with the bulb modules, which are completely sealed bulbs, that can't short out, unless broken.

good luck
