Anyone have the latest scoop on the future of these motors? One hears so much conflicting information (entirely discontinued, out-of-stock just for the year, 2700SX series cancelled, 3700 series retained but modifications to come, Thorne's dropping the line and no longer recommending the motors, etc.).
And if the motors go, what of any concrete plans for the graphs? Are newer graphs and software EVER going to be developed?
I'd STILL like to get a 3700 (maybe), but boy oh boy, at the moment it's too much a leap of faith.
Can anyone help??
Thanks!

Joe, just for the record Thornes is by no means not going to handle Pinpoint, we still believe in the graphs 100%, as far as the motors go, we have always tried to be honest with our customers and quite frankly the pinpoint motor production and support was crap this year and if we can not count on the product we will tell you. I hope you do not give up on Pinpoint because of a bad season and if there is anything we can help you with please call 763-572-3782.

You tell it like it is Matt, and for the record the 2003 model is going to be tough, but it will be hard to get the confidence back.
Matt and Rip Lips (and others),
Thanks for the responses.
Matt, when you say the "production and support was crap this year" I think everyone's clear about the support problems (no parts manufactured/available for older motors, or at the most very few, and generally none for the redesigned 2002 models because all production of parts went into getting a few motors out the door). Is this essentially correct? As for 2002 production, what aspect earns the descriptor "crap": production "quantity" (makes sense), or production "quality," which is a whole different ballgame? One doesn't hear much from those who purchased '02 models with the MG prop and lower unit, and the Gator II/ BW Gator II mount.
Rip Lips, if the 2003 model (for the record!) is going to be "tough," in what way will this be so? Will a 2003 3700 be different from an '02 model? This isn't what I've heard ('03 production similar to '02, except for dropping of the 2700SX, and the only changes for '04 being the labeling of the motor itself to reflect the MG brand instead of PP, finally matching the labeling of the Gator II mount). The basic question, I guess, is whether it is a mistake to find and buy a 2002 3700 now, or wait until 2003? Will the '03 be "different" somehow? In what way?
Anyone else that may be using one of the 2002 models, either the 3000 or 2700SX: what's the verdict? My understanding is that the prop is now the MG three blade; is it now more weedless? The lower unit apparently is similar to the PP, except for the use of ceramic magnets, and while not as efficient as the older style PP (down 10%), it's still better than other TMs? And much quieter? As for the new Gator II mount, was it redesigned at all to accomodate the PP cable-T (don't know what else to call it!), etc.?
And where's the best (or last) location to buy any remaining stock of motors or graphs for this year? If there's so much uncertainty and loss of confidence, where's the big closeout package deal?? :)
Thanks for everyone's patience. I'd like to get one of these suckers now, if the future is "reasonably" assured, so every bit of good info is of value.
Joe

And the very best of good wishes to our southern neighbours on this sad anniversary of that tragic day in NY and DC. Stay strong, stay together and stay the course. The "silent majority" within Canada is solidly behind you.
