Had a 19 pitch aluminum prop on my boat. 1800 pro v 90hp 2 stroke

Got a good deal on a 22 pitch high five. Tried it out used to get about 36- 37 mph now I get 39 mph. Fast out of the hole but I'm worried about rpms below 4000, definatly not reving out like it used to. No tack............why I don't know.

Has anybody experimented with this set up.... Don't want to blow er up eh.

Otherwise, I like the performance

Ask the guys that know. You didn't say what brand your motor is.

2 strokes don't like to be lugged down. You should be within 300 RPM of the Maximum recommended for your motor at WOT.

That motor Mercury or Yamaha should run about 5500 rpm and something does not sound right. 36 or 37 mph with the rpm under 4000. I question that speed because that boat loaded seems to run better with a prop in the 15p to 17p range. Check your speed with a GPS and get back to us.

Im guessing at the rpm because I have no tack. The speed is gps speed and the pitch is 22. To me it is to much pitch for that motor and rather than damage something, I'm going to a 19 pitch lazer 2.

Hoping this will be correct as to rpms.

let me know how that lazer II works
I have 2001 merc 90 hp on a Mr. Pike 17
I think maybe a 20 or 21 pitch would be
the right
size for my setup

We used a standard merc 18" SS three blade prop on our 87 merc 90. Not sure of speed, but our rpms were right around 5800 when loaded light - a bit much for the motor, but we rarely had light load.

We tried a lazer (old one) and hole shot was bad. The newer ones are better.

I'd guess that a 19" 3 blade SS would be good choice, based on our boat ten years ago.

BTW - I am pretty sure this motor is still being used A LOT and we used it a LOT. Good motor, even if a bit smokey.
