View Full Version : Mariner lower end paint problem..

I pulled the boat today and whilst at the car wash trying to de-crud the hull and motor, I noticed the grey paint was coming off of the lower end ( 1998 75 H.P.). Is this a problem? Should I be concerned? How would I re-paint this?

Sounds like you leave the boat in the water during the warmer months?
Have you checked your anodes lately? What you describe could be a sign of corrosion or just old paint that doesn't want to stick anymore.
If you do repaint, don't paint over the zincs...

The annodes have some activity but are essentially as new and intact. The paint underneath is black so I'm wondering if Merc paints over their merc components with grey paint to make them into Mariners.
