I was at 5,000 rpm running down the lake when my no oil light alarm sounded. The motor started to cut out "I think it's supposed to do that when it gets this alarm"
I thought "oh no"!
I didn't get a low oil level alarm either, and I shouldn't have since my reservoir was 3/4 full!
My hoses were not kinked and my oil tank on the motor had oil in it.
I was a long way from anywhere so I turned my key half way and it went thru it's self diagnostic check and all lights including the no oil light cleared. So I started the motor and she ran fine all the way back with no alarms.
So has this happened to anyone? I'll be taking it in anyway to get it checked out. It's a 2001 150 Evinrude ficht that has ran great for me so far, and I use it about twice a week.
The only thing I did differnt was go from Ficht oil to optimax oil since I ran out of my 2 cases of ficht ram oil, and no one around here carries it.I added the opti oil when my low oil alarm came on the last time.Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

I had the same thing happen about 2 years ago. Dealer told me that the senser will occasionally "hiccup" or that an air bubble passed through. Anyway does not seem to have caused any problems and has not reoccurred.

Are you sure it was "oil" beep? On our merc efi, we heard a beep that eneded up being our fuel water speerator had water, and needed to be changed/cleaned. Not sure , but you might want to check out others sources for the beep.

Les,This is how they all start on their downward spiral. No Oil, means No Oil. Trade it!

Les, go to www.boatsetup.com go to forums and then the evinrude/johnson forum. There is a tech there named Rowdy. He is the best with the Fichts. If anyone knows he does.

I had the same problem on my 2000 200 ficht - the light and the horn eventually stayed on. i took to the dealer and the engine was fine just the gauge was faulty. We unhooked the horn and i ran until the new gauge came in and havent had a problem since.
