OMC Outdrive Question

I have an older Wellcraft boat that had an OMC electric shift i/o.
Can anyone tell me if a new type of OMC outdrive will fit in the same size transome hole. Thanks in advance. iFish

Oh Boy...am I happy that you sent this post. I have a 1969 OMC electric shift outdrive. I just bought it. It is in a Slickcraft 195 SS. It seems to be in good condition. What is the problem with yours? What engine does it have? Mine is a 69 Buick V6....(just my luck, I hate anything made by GM). I would suggest that you measure the diameter of the rubber ring. It seems that that would be the only determining factor. Whenever I mention "OMC Electric shift" to anyone who knows boats....they just groan!

Thanks for the answer. I have no engine and outdrive. I had hoped a newer type of OMC o/d that wasn't electric shift would fit in the same hole. I might wind up putting an electric shift back in but would rather not. What are you planning to do with the set up you have?
