View Full Version : Downriggers on Fish Hawk
How would a person mount downriggers on a Fish Hawk, with the narrow gunnels?
Thanks.

MK, looks like the best place to mount your downriggers
is on the rear casting deck. Will need extensions to reach
over the gunwale. Be sure to use bolts and a backing plate.
You could mount a board across the gunwales. Some how
bolt the board to the gunwale. Or bolt the board to the
seat post on the casting deck.

I know of a guy you used the rear cleats to mount a downrigger board in a similar type of boat. Maybe you could get some ideas from that. He took a 2X6 board and used U bolts to attach it to his cleats. Ran 2 riggers off that for years with no problem.

I mounted two Attwater pedistal bases on each side in line with the center base.Ordered two pedistals and mounted a piece of 5/8 x 6 aluminum on top of the pedistals about 2" above the gunnel and 1"in from the sides. The aluminum plate and pedistals remove as a unit and I also put my seats there when I'm handlining in the Detroit river. Plate has Cannon swivel mounts for the downriggers on each side and 4 Scotty rod holders between them. The set-up is awsome!
