Bought a dozen Stinger Spoons this past weekend, used them Saturday, and Sunday. Most of the paint has come off. Can anyone tell me what I can put on them to keep the paint from coming off.I cant afford to keep buying them if this continues to happen. Any suggestions .

Can't help much with the paint. Like you I got tired of paying $3.39 for a spoon and having the paint peel off the first day. I tried several different spoon manufacturers and settled on Luhr-Jensen "Krocodile" spoons in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 oz. They are stamped out of brass, won't bend and I have one firetiger that has taken over 50 walleye this year and the paint is still in good shape, though a few teeth marks are showing. Cabela's has them in their catalog, on line and at the Dundee Mi. store. In my opinion they work as well or better than the scorpions, cost less and the paint stays on.

I know what you mean. The spoons are very flexible and the paint is not. I have been going with the copper plated stingers, staying away from the painted spoons if possible and have found that the Krocodile and Little Cleo spoons work very well in the west basin of Erie without chipping.

Tried something like that once. Worked O.K. on some colors but caused problems on others.Caused the paint to blister or what ever you want to call it. Solved the problem thou, started buying different spoons .

I gave up on stinger, switched to a Rak Spoon. But last week I purchased some of those new plated Fintail spoons. Cant wait to try them out, they sure look nice.

Netcraft has a stinger knockoff. These spoons come pre-assembled or as a blank spoon (you add rings and hook). I bought 25 blanks and added triple grip hooks, the total came in under a dollar each. At that price, I don't care as much if the paint comes off. Good Luck!

I also have good luck with Luhr-Jensen Needlefish.

You're right about the paint. I remember some time ago, a post from the manufacturer, saying they were aware of the problem and were dedicated to finding a solution. Looks like that was just idle talk. I'm glad to hear about the Luhr Jensens and Fin Tails.
I will try them this year. I know I will not be pissing away more money on stingers.

Heard about this fintail spoons myself,I was told that they come plated in different colors, and that fisherman are just adding tape. Makes sense to me.
