Does anyone have any information or comments about the new Tracker?

Nothing profound, but I did look it over quite carefully at a couple boat shows and Bass Pro in Gurnee, Ill., and was very impressed with appearance, attention to detail, general layout, and the like. The notion of a molded aluminum hull interests me. I'd buy one, but my Targa 18 is only three years old and has plenty of hours left in her.

I love the looks of it. I think tracker made a great new boat. It looks just like a glass boat but in a aluminum one. I saw one at the merc. nationals this weekend and very impresed. I would definatly buy one if i was shoping for a new aluminum boat. Great layout and good storage. It has one drawback though, it is a bit expencive. I think they need to bring the price down a bit and it would be a great seller. Nice job tracker boats. The one i looked at was with a 150 for about 27,000 and that is a bit steep for that but still a ##### of a boat. Look into it if you are interested you wont be disapointed.

Cisco - You mentioned Gurnee, IL. Are you local to the area and if yes, do you fish the Fox Chain?

Steve -- used to live in SE Wisconsin, but am now in Minnesota. I do get back to the area fairly frequently, and, if it is possible, I do try to get to Bass Pro. It's a good store and I like their bratwurst (neat cafeteria).

My Tracker Targa 18 came from the Bass Pro marine store just off Hwy 45. Got it in May of '98.

Incidentally, $27K does sound like plenty, but in comparison it is not out of line -- esp. with the 150 Merc. And, Tracker trailers are made specifically for each boat, with no shopping around to see what might fit. I looked at a Lund Pro-V 18 ft at a dealer near me, and the whole package was over $40K (did have 175 Merc and 9.9 Merc, however). I was not shopping for myself, but was a curious tag-a-long.
