View Full Version : Crestliner Northwest Package?
I see that Crestliner lists the Northwest package as an option on many of their models. I assume that means vinyl flooring, but is there anything else that comes with the Northwest package?? I am leaning toward getting vinyl floor covering in my next boat since I fish salmon alot and always get lots of blood and scales on the carpet. Does anyone have the vinyl floor and how do you like it??
thanks

I have the Northwest package, it cost more but it is worth it. I have a 02` 1850 Sportfish that I use for almost every thing that swims, all year. Your right about fish slime and blood, washes off and drys faster than carpet. Also hooks don`t get caught in the floor like carpet. It can be slippery with fish slime. This is my 2nd boat with a vinyl floor and it`s the only way to go.
But it does cut, so be careful not to drop or drag anything that
might cut or put a hole in it.
Good luck, Cliff :)
Consider also that vinyl radiats heat back up to your feet and to you. It's "hotter' in the summer with vinyl.
Noel,
I live in Seattle, salmon fish the Sound and San Juans, and have the 2360 Eagle with vinyl flooring. If the NW package includes vinyl flooring, go with it. If you don't hate the carpet after the first Coho or King, you will after the first crab trap. If not included in the NW packave, add in a wash down system, and make sure you have a good bilge pump installed (I put in a second). If not done so already, check with Jacobsen’s Marine on that Crestliner. Yeomalt point has good Blackmouth fishing starting soon. See you out there.

Hey MDT, I know what you mean about those coho- they shed scales like nuts. Years ago my Dad had a boat with vinyl and I liked the "hose" washdown at the end of the day. I have been using carpet in my current boat and am tired of scrubbing each stain with cleaner and a brush. It doesnt bother me that it might be hotter then carpet. Most days I can use some extra heat in the boat.
Thanks for the info. Do you know if the Northwest package includes anything other then the vinyl floor. thanks
I also live in Seattle, and shopped Crestliners earlier this year. I talked to both Jacobsen Marine and Cascade Marina in Moses Lake. Before you buy a boat from Jacobsen give Cascade a chance to give you a quote. The sales tax is also a bit lower in E. Wash. I don't fish for salmon and won't ever use my boat in salt water. I mostly fish for muskies, occasionally bass and walleyes, and will be taking my boat to Wisconsin from time to time. I probably will end up buying a Tuffy Esox Magnum or 1760C in Wisconsin and bringing it back to Seattle. This is not as crazy as it sounds because I have family in Wisconsin that I visit. Crestliner sounds like a great choice for what you want to do and I would go with the Northwest package for fishing in the Sound or western Washington (where it rains a lot). The dealer in Moses Lake told me don't buy vinyl flooring if you will fish entirely or mostly in E. Wash. because it will get too hot to your feet, and I believe him. I spent two weeks over there in August on Roosevelt Lake and Banks Lake, and it was over 100 degrees every day. Did okay on the 'eyes, though.

Yes, it will be hot on your feet in the summer,
But here on the Great Lakes summer doesn`t last that long.
I believe with the NW package the vinyl floor and
casting deck are the only thing you get.

Noel,
I don't have any details on the NW package. Nothing on the Crestliner web site. Need to work with the dealer on that.
As for the wash down, don't wait until the end of the day to hose off the deck...do it after each fish (keeps the deck safe). I mounted the second bilge pump right on the bottom just in front of the plug. This way I can pump out what hosing was just done. It also gives me an emergency back up.
As for the vinyl flooring, well, I am in Honolulu at the moment and I can see where carpet could have an advantage here... but not the Pacific NW West of the Cascades except maybe a couple days a year. On those days the kids are doing water sports and there is plenty of water on the deck to keep it cool.
Enjoy,
MDT

Everything that all these guys said is true !!!!! I reason that I will NEVER have another boat with a vinyl floor is the slippery factor. Let's face it the inside of your boat will get wet even if it doesn't rain and with all the things that can cut, hook,or stab you when you lose your balance or fall , I'll take the carpet and when it gets so messed up I'll go to the do-it-yourself carwash and clean it !!! My 2 cents !!!!
