I just had a pair of Maui Jim sun glases fall into the river. They are in twenty foot of sixty degree water but, they are in slip area, so with my aqua view a some good suggestions maybe I can get these great sunglasses back. P.S. not much metal in these, I tried a magnet at a local store.
Thanks

1) Locate glasses with Aqua-View
2) Tie 25' rope around waist
3) Tie other end of 25' rope to 12# anchor
4) Put on diving mask
5) Hold anchor in hands
6) Jump in! Head to bottom.
7) Locate glasses
8) Drop anchor
9) Swim to surface
10) Get on dock
11) Pull anchor up
12) Untie self
13) Head for hot tub!

Hey Einstein? What's with holding the anchor? He'll probably fill his mask with blood after the pressure ruptures the blood vessels in his sinus cavity before he hits bottom. If you want to drop anchor, just don some flippers and follow the rope to the bottom. Or forget the anchor (it would probably just land on the glasses anyway and smash them) and just dive down. Just do it soon before silt makes it hard to locate the glasses.
Happy diving.

OK. Amend step 6) to:
6) Jump in! Pinch nose. Head to bottom, equalizing air in inner ear along the way to prevent blood in mask.
Maybe he could tie a trained crayfish to a fishing pole and have the 'lil bugger grab his glasses for him?
maybe one of your local dive and rescue guys would be willing to go down for them? Dunno, but it seems a bit more appealing than diving in 60 degree water...

It's not the 60 degree surface water, its the 40-some degree water at 26 feet down that is the cold part. In central MN I had 41 degrees at 33 feet in a granite quarry on Sunday. Boy was I happy I had the neopreen on!! (thanks again honey)

I like the crayfish idea. Or maybe an Aqua-Vu in one hand and a 1 oz jig and line in the other on a calm morning. Or better yet strap the anchor to the neighbor's teenage kid who's been wanting to go fishing with you all summer. Make him earn his place in your boat.
Step 14. After the hot tub buy a pair of chums.

My buddy did a not so gracefull hand off of a bottle of
absolute at the end of the day now it's 25ft under. He took my advise on the lanyard cords on the glasses but I never thought about a cord for the absolute.
Thanks for the chuckles

I though I would get a few side holders and I was right. Thanks for your help. (no really I mean it) Vodka on the boat, whew, now thats fishin.!!!!!!!!
did you think of trawling for them? of course building and rigging a trawl may set you back more than the cost of some shades :-)
first.. find glasses by using your aqua view. lower a brightly colored marker weight (ribbons.. whatever) on a line and put it beside the glasses. a local swimmer can go down the anchor rope with a rock in hand. he will find the glasses easily. swimmers and divers love this kind of thing.

I have to agree with those that told you to get a diver to go down for them. It's the only safe way to do it. Either find a diver or buy a new pair of glasses, but whatever you do...don't go down yourself. The pressure at 26ft is more than you want to experience if your not used to doing it. An experienced diver would be used to it and would have the right equipment to keep it safe. Besides, I think they kind of like looking for people's "treasures". ;-)
He has fun, you get your glasses back, and best of all, you don't get hurt!
That's just my thought on the subject...
