I saw a tool that was made to tune your crankbaits. The person that had it said (I thought he said) he got it on Walleye Central. Has anybody seen this tool? It is a small round machined brass devise that you slip in the slot on the end and you can move your eye's of your crankbaits to tune them. Neat little tool. Has anybody seen this...and where can you get it?

Yeah, I have one of those, and they work great. I just can't for the life of me, remember what the name on the packaging was. I know there is a website, because that is where I ordered mine from. Maybe someone can post that site for you. I just can't remember it. Sorry.

I'm not sure of the tool that Juls is refering to, but Rapala makes a set that includes a hook shapener a jig hole popper(or what ever you call it) and a clipper that has slots for tuning cranks. Works good for about $10.00. I've seen them at Gander Mountain, Cabelas and several bait shops.
PS: The package is evil. It took me about 10 minutes just to open it.

I hope this helps.

Check out the address from Dennis/UT. The tool is called the lure tuner by Bucher Tackle Co. I believe it cost me about $7.00.

From the Works for me dept......

Being a cheap Swede I always look for a make your own option first, and I found one for this situation.

Scrounge up a discarded steel brake line, or a chunk of brass tubing with a (ID) inside diameter of 3/16 or a 1/8. Cut the tubing into 3" sections and flatten the ends with a vice to narrow the (ID) to a point that it will slip over the lures eyelet firmly.

A tweak here and there and your running straight, usually.

The old needle none pliers still have there place in some adjustments, but this tool will handle the majority of cranks in a walleye anglers stash.

Occasionally a crank has been molded or formed poorly and one side is heavier then the other causing it to not tune well no mater what direction you tweak the eye. This is were the STORM Suspend Dots will help to bring a lopsided lure back to plum. Some of the new Thunder Sticks have been suffering from this problem as do the new Rapala divers.

Hay and if the fishing is slow you can also blow into the tuner like a whistle and drive your fishing partner nuts!
