View Full Version : Speedo pickup
Hey guys, I gotta dumb question. Where is the speedometer pickup located on my Lund 1700 Fisherman? There is nothing about it my Lund info, and I don't find anything on the boat that looks like it would be it. Is it connected through the motor in some way?

I also bought a 2002 1800 Fisherman and a 175 Ficht this year and I think you are right in saying the speedo pickup is in the motor, although not 100% sure

I don't know for sure but think it's on the leading edge of your lower unit. There are some small holes on my Merc 175 EFI in this area. Anybody else????

Only two possibilities....
The leading edge of the upper part of the gear case. Should be a small hole on the leading edge, and a small black hose that leaves the motor near the wiring harness that connects to the speedo.
Second, the boat itself may have a pickup mounted on the transom. It looks much like a pencil that dips into the water, and has the same black hose up to the Speedo. This type of pickup is being seen less and less these days.
