The walleye in the lower Red have just begun spawning as of last night so a week of down time is inevitable while waiting for feeders to reappear, with that said, this is my top two methods of choice for Post Spawn on the Red and other smalle river environments.

1- 3"or 4" sassy shad's on swimmer head jigs (Can be jigged, flipped, or trolled)

2- Cranks-Rattling Thin-Finn's,Rattling Rap's, Trap's, Husky's, T-sticks (Search and go find with these babies, noise wakes them up!)

Search is the word as they disperse over the flats after spawn.

What is your top Post spawn methods for lakes, rivers or reservoirs?

Let's hear it?

Thanks

My favorite way to fish post spawn walleyes is at night fishing current areas in lakes. I cast jointed rapalas and jigs/twisters into any kind of current..and the best depth seems to be 1-5'. And i get both numbers of walleyes...and numbers of big walleyes doing this.

YA-Yu-BETCHA-great patter for sure Night_Eyes!! Do you like the countdown Jointed Rap's as well as the classic ones? I use a lot of the big hummers, J-13's.

I dont use the countdown ones very much. With fishing such shallow water i guess i dont need to much. A lure that i forgot to mention that i have also found to work well is a #7 shallow running shad rap. And natural colors have worked best for me...blue/silver, black/silver, clown, shiner, and sometimes gold/black.
