I printed out a depth chart from Luhr Jensens website on both dipsy's and jet divers. I know both are covered in the precision trolling book but it's on the boat. I was curious as to how the too compare. Luhr Jensens figures use 15 lb test.

It's interesting to note with the jet divers, that with 100' of line out the size 10 will go 18' !! The size 20 goes 20', size 30 goes 24' and the size 40 goes 28' and the 40, even with 125' of line out only goes 32'.

any comments would be appreciated.

Mike,

I like the products but don't have much faith in their info. I bought some pink lady's and deep six's to fool around with a few yrs ago. Depth information on the packaging for both conflicted with the depth information on their web page chart. The info on the packaging was for a different dia line, but it wasn't comparable. Maybe differences in speed could have accounted for the discrepancy. None of it jived with my observations using 10# XT.

I hit bottom (brought up mud) in 30-34' water (NW of Rattlesnake) with 40 jets/stingers (maybe it was 30 jets, but I think 40's) with under 100' leads last year using 14/6 or 20/8 fireline. If memory serves, I was catching 20' marks w/70-75' leads and hitting bottom around 85 or 90' @ 2-2.4 mph.

Most of the captains on Erie run them on a superbraid like power pro. Last longer than fireline. 8 # dia. is what we use (35# test). Jets are particularly efficient when your looking to run added lines with dipsys. The float back till set, eliminates trouble. 20 Jets are really catching on in the western basin. Will get those Scorpions to what ever depth you want most places west of kellys Island. Hope this helps.
