I asked this same question in the general discussion section by mistake. In short, will a 40hp Honda work ok on a 165 Navigator tiller with three adults? It works fine on my 16LTD Lunker Mag rated at 50hp the Navigator is rated at 60hp

Sure it will work but the question I have is are you always going to be fishing with 3 adults. A friend of mine has the same situation as you and here is what happened. He is running a 30 hp Yamaha to stroke and after about a half a day he used alot of gas and was out of oil on the oil injection tank. The problem was the wrong prop for the load and the fuel & oil ratio were way off. I told him he need to go ato a smaller pitch to get his rpms up and this would solve the problem which it did. What I am trying to say if the motor is proped right it will perform fine. With the 40hp four stroke you have more torque then a 40hp two stroke and also buy a tach to make sure you are running in the proper rpm range.
