Is replacing a prop shaft a handyman project or should I let the dealer handle this?
What would be a ballpark cost estimate in time and materials getting the work done at a dealer?
Is this procedure in the service manual? (have not bought one yet)

I am in the process of pulling the prop shaft out of my lower unit on my big block Yami. My shaft is only slightly bent but I want it fixed because I want to fine tune it for the best prop I can get when the water gets soft again. Here's what you might be up against.
Engine in neutral.
You must drain the lower unit of oil.
You can remove the lower unit and the prop - no problem by finding all the bolts.
I need to have a puller to open up the gearcase box and I suspect you will also and the dealer has this device. Fortunately, I will be able to use one. This information is in the service manual.
I will be taking my shaft to a machine shop to straighten and then reassemble again. I have the 2 seals to reassemble the shaft into the gearcase.
My suggestion is take it to a dealer if in doubt. Don't know the cost.
