View Full Version : Motorguide trolling motor
I just installed a 70lb cable drive Motorguide trolling motor(cabalas model) on my boat and find that it is very difficult to control in any kind of water other than calm water. The foot control seems awful to me am I over reacting or has any one else noticed this?

Foot control motors take some getting used too but work great for position fishing. The cable tension should be adjustable though so it may need adjustment. After you get used to the cable steer you will find you can steer it without looking at the motor to see which way it is pointing. The cable steer, foot control, is not all that great though for trolling as it can require constant adjustment.

Make sure you have the "minimum" amount of power setting in place that you need to control the boat per your presentation. If you are having to be on and off and on and off and on and off..., then you have TOO MUCH power on.
