View Full Version : Best place to find new (last years)outboards
Where is the best place to find a 30-40 HP motor. I'm looking for last years models in a 2 stroke. Prcing is the important part brand means no difference to me at this point.
All help is appreciated. Thanks Chad

The cheapest motor may turn out to be the most expensive if it doesn't run well and has to be constantly repaired. Know what you are buying. Investing a little more in quality upfront saves money over the long haul.

All dealers carry carryover motors. Shop the boat shows, most have them on their boards....get to the first show and get there the first day...many people buy those carryovers so they go quick.....
If you're close to a large metro area, then it's easy and you can shop alot of dealers in a very short time.

try the Boats.Net banner on top the page. I have my eye on a real sweet non current yammi and it is cheaper than the new motor the dealer wants me to buy from them! Dont get me wrong the boat dealer has a great price on a new Merc, but if I can pick up a new in crate, off year Yammi for less... I am letting the dealer see if they can find a non current Merc and then I will decide, but boats , net has some great stuff and people here seem to recommend them highly.
Ed's Marine Superstore.
They do not list the year of the motor's but they are all new in box. Make sure you ask the what year the motor they are selling is. I havn't doen any business with them but other's say they are the price King but are no good on service.
There is also Summerville Marine in SC, but I'm not sure if they have any left overs in the size your looking for.

Chad, If you're close to the Canadian Border you will likely find a great deal at one of the marinas there. Finding a stateside dealership in the US to honor your warrantly might be a problem however, if you're close to the border anyway and price is that important, buy Canadian. Ron W.
