Several of us want to plan a trip to either MN or South Dakota for walleye fishing. Would like any suggestions on witch location might be better and any specific lakes and or resorts.
Thanks for any info.

There are more people in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area than in SD, ND, MT, & WY combined. Guess which state will have the best fishing.
I'm from ND and MN trips are called family reunions. For SD hints, try www.tonydean.com.

All you have to check is the boat ramps. Many Mn. anglers fishing S.D. verses very few S.D. tags at Mn ramps....
Excellent fishing here in SD. Excellent fishing in MN too. Pick the lake that you want to fish, and don't worry about what state it's in. Top lakes in SD are Thompson, waubay, big stone, traverse, poinsett and many other lesser known lakes. I've also spent quite a bit of time on winnie in MN, and it's one of my favorite lakes.
feel free to email me if you want more specific info.

South Dakota Glacial Lakes and Prairies has good info. for all of NE SD.

Ditto on the SD Glacial Lakes region (NE South Dakota). Waubay, Emeny Swim, and Bitter Lake all are really good, not to mention the local bait shops are very knowledgeable and helpful and won't send you on a wild goose (walleye) chase. There are alot of new hotels and resorts with fish cleaning stations to choose from that'll make your trip even nicer.

If you are in it for hardcore fishing and don't mind less frills, fish South Dakota in the Eastern area of the Glacial Lakes. If you want a frilly, nice resort with good accomodations and other stuff to do, go to the Brainerd, Leech Lake type areas in Minnesota. You will not find the quality of resorts in SD as you will in Minnesota but will find better fishing. IMHO.

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like NE South Dakota is the place to look into. We dont mind the less frills part either. We just got back from canada on a fly in. was supriesed to see shower in the cabin (it was lake water but still worked).
