Can anyone give me a name and maybe a phone number for a campground or cheap hotel? I would like to be able to charge batteries but it's not necessary. Small boat, so I would like to launch close to where the fish are. Am I stupid to be thinking about going there around the 4th?

Any info on preferred trolling baits for muskies on St. Clair would also be appreciated. Tried this on Muskie Central a while back but didn't get much help other than a suggestion to hire a guide which is not an option. I know there is a shallow skim the tops of the weeds bite w/boards, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

I want to speed up my muskie learning curve with some numbers.
Hard to figure things out when I sometimes only catch (or lose) one a year.

Many thanks for any help.

There are many hotels in the Lake St. Clair area - call Lakeside Fishing Shop at (810) 777-7004. They'll be your best source for areas lodging and current reports. Try lakesidefishingshop.com They also have a great selection of musky baits.

Top St. Clair 'sky baits include Believers, Terminators, and Wileys. Natural colors work best. High speed trolling with planer boards (mast and skis) and boat wash rods produce the most fish. Fish are nearly everywhere, though the south Canadian shore produces the best numbers. Note that Canadian law only allows one rod per angler so getting a decent spread is tough. Anchor Bay probably holds the biggest fish right now. Hope this helps.

This web page should have all the info you need. Under Services and Merchants is a link for hotels. Good Fishing!

Was out last weekend, best bait was a large white spinner bait with white pork trailer. Double the size of a bass bait. Trolled off boards. Just have to experiment any thing big should get hit they are everywhere.

Also try www.fishlakestclair.com. It's a pretty good site and you can e-mail the guy who runs it with specific questions.
