I had a run in with an iron marker buoy last fall that stove in a six foot bash on my aluminum Ranger last fall. After calling all over creation, I finally was referred to a local repair shop here.

Many times on this site we customarily give some marine outfit a smash for screwing up on a repair. In this instance, it is more that appropriate that I let everyone know about a really good repair place. Universal Coach in Fox River Grove, IL (847-639-0575) did a really great job on my boat. While I had visions of having an excuse to buy a new one, they repaired a rather ugly dent that measured about 6 feet long 5 inches high and at least 4 inches deep. You cannot tell it from brand new.

I mention this here because someone else might be out there looking all over for someone to correct their problems. Email me if you have questions.

What kinda fix did they do? Cut it out and weld in a new plate of aluminum? Curious as to how this will hold up. Was it under the water line?

Combination of both. The damage was at the rubb rail line.
