View Full Version : Lund Pro-V / kicker / power tilt questions

I plan to buy a Lund 1800 Pro-V SE, rigged with a kicker. I would like the kicker to have electric start, power tilt with controls at the console. From reading many posts here, it appears as though the Yamaha T8 is a no-brainer decision for this application.

However, when I spoke with my dealer about the Lund factory pre-reg for the kicker, he said that Lund provides the factory pre-rig assuming the kicker is the same manufacturer as the main motor. The dealer who I am working with (who has been referred by several satisfied customers) deals in Bombardier motors. I am looking at an Evinrude FICHT 150HP as my main motor.

So it seems like I have two options:
(1) Buy a Johnson four-stroke kicker (probably 9.9HP) with a 3rd party power tilt.
or
(2) Buy a Yamaha T8 from another dealer and pay my dealer (more) to rig the kicker on the Lund after delivery.

Does this scenario sound correct?

Are the Johnson four-strokes good motors?

Any other suggestions?

-Thanks
Jamie

The Johnson fourstroke is a good motor to run.The dealer should not have problem rigging a Yamaha Pre-rig in with the Johnson 150.Have you already bought a boat yet?If not I have the same boat with a 150 Hpdi and T-8 for sale.

Is your boat isted in the classifieds? Maybe you could leave your email, sounds like a boat I may be interested in if you are located anywhere in Wisconsin.

I've fished with John. He takes very good care of his boat.

He's also right in that your dealer should be willing to rig your remotes as you wish without any problem.

I'd recommend going with a yamaha for the main motor also. The T8 is by far the best kicker out there that I've used. Yamaha won the JD Power & Associates award for both 2stroke and 4strokes so I don't think people can argue with the quality. They will be hard to find later this spring as Yamaha isn't accepting any additional orders until the 2004 model year.

Good luck.
