I hate speculating, but if the weather stays good I'd be willing to bet that it'll be pretty good.
My guess is All the 15"er's you can handle!

Last year all we could find were 13" fish, lots of em. We were using bouncers, floaters and boards. I would definately try shallow cranks casted to shore or pulled behind boards.

Heard a sick rumor from some DNR guys. They said that some fish on Big Stone and Traverse had a parasite that infects the meat of walleyes and perch. Don't know how accurate the rumor is but I don't think I'll be keeping any. Catch-n-Release Opener.

That rumor you heard about the parasites is not a big deal. There have been some known cases of the parasite called Neascus which is that little black parasite that burrows it's way into the skin of the fish. But that is easily removed by skinning fish. Also cooking the fish will kill the parasite the rest of the way. Humans cannot be infected with this parasite anyway so it's no threat to the public. There also have been cases of certain species of fish containing Triaenophorus, which is the white worms in the meat of the fish. These are not a threat to humans either. Besides I think they taste good too! heh heh heh!!! So not to worry if you plan on keepin a few. Good luck on Stoney!!
I am very familiar with this lake as well as traverse. The first thing I would try is pitching a jig and a minnow into 1-4 feet of water in the north end of the lake.If that does'nt pan out try stick baits. Good luck Dean

In the past I have hammered large walleyes by using a green spray on my minnow. I can't think of the name of it, but its in a spray bottle and it is suppose to be a fish attractant. This is the only lake the stuff has ever worked on for me, but its been great for the last 4 years.

WALLEYE SLAYER, Are you talking about the fish attractant called Baitmate? If you are, that stuff seems to work pretty good for Pike when I use it. Never seems to be a Factor on the eyes though.

I think that the opener will not be good at all to many blue plates!!!!!! I was up at Waubay this last weekend and I think that ratio of blue plates to white plates was unreal I thaught that I took a wrong road and was in blue plate country.

It sure is nice of our neighbors to the west to be so hospitable. By the way, do they teach English in South Dakota?

This is NOT about South Dakota vs. Minnesota. This is about fishing. This board is not the place for derogatory comments toward someone who has a different color license plate than you do.
If you can't sign your name to a post, maybe you shouldn't be making it at all.

I to have used this on Big Stone and Traverse. It has worked wonders. I think it is called bait master, not sure though. I have also soaked my minnows in the stuff for a couple hours. Spray some in a seperate minnow bucket, add water, let the minnows swim in the mixture for a couple hours. Make sure you keep adding fresh water.

I agree!! It's tempting to bash out-of-staters, but unless you never fish anywhere except in your home state, you will eventually be one, too.
peace & luv!
