Is anyone running the Glyde Ryde 2's that can make a comparison to the Gorilla model as far as any difference in ride or durability/life expectancy?
The ride is gonna be the same. The difference is the original Gorilla is stainless (designed for saltwater use) and the 2 is powdercoated steel. Check the website http://www.glyde-ryde.com if that don't answer your questions give the owner John Estes a call, he'll be glad to help you.
I have been interested in a GLyde Ryde for some time not (only thing holding me up is price). I hear that you have to move your seat back in order to install them, can someone tell me if that is true?
Thanks
back and down, do a search on "Glyde Ryde", lots of info.

Have been interested myself for a while but seems kind of pricey and hard to test drive to see if they are really worth the $$$$.

Does anyone know if there is an adapter that maintains the legroom without moving the base?
I have a bad back problem from a 100 ft. fall when I was in the military in 75. Through the years the problem has became worse and for a while I had to quit fishing from a boat. I have a very good freind that has a Patriot with the glyde rides. I must say that this is the smoothest riding rig that I have ever been in. The glyde rides take up so much of any jaring that I can tolerate fishing in a boat again. If any one has aches and pains in there joints, or wants to avoid them, I do highly recomend that you pay the extra for the comfort. See ya on the water.
There is no adaptor and the way the seat mounts, there is no way to install them without moving the bases. Some guys mount a plate on the floor to cover the old mounting location. Good luck. (They are well worth the cost, when they enable you to continue to fish.)

I did what ETT suggested. I got some aluminum diamond plate and mounted my seat post to that. Actually, I think it was strudier than before.

Actually the Gorilla steel unit rides slightly firmer as I have found it. The wire that the springs are made from are just slightly larger in diameter than the stainless wire. That heat treated stainless wire was kind of a lucky score.
Just cant seem to find a way to build those GR's using a shock absorber with out moving the unit back from the steering wheel. Riding a springy thingy without a shock is not an option with anything I make. John Estes

I have a pair of the gorilla's in my 2025. I took a piece of 3/16 aluminum that was 16 by 16. Got some carpet from lund and screwed the carpeted plate into the floor with 12 screws. Then mounted the base plate to the aluminum and through the floor. I moved it back 7 inches. It looks great and is MUCH stronger then the original base plate. The RYDE speaks for it's self. I and the 2 zippers in my back thank you John. Hutch B.T.W. I used red lock-tite on all the screws and they are holding strong.

Hutch, I sure would like to have a photo of your installation. I did virtually the same thing with my relic Tyee and it sure does strengthen and stabalize the seating.
Perhaps a deck plate option would be in order. Quite a few potential Glyde Ryders are apprehensive about making any change such as this. Truly a matter of priorities. John Estes

Do you have to move the seat back on a Ranger too ?
Not a lot of room there to do that is there ? Also can you still turn the seat all the way around after installing the Glyde Rydes ?

Ranger provided more room starting with the 02's. Some guys take the seat back all the way on the sliders but that puts a lot of preeeuse on the deck and pedestal. Seat and Glyde Ryde should be centered over the pedestal post. And yes you still have to move the pedestal and seating back. It still swivels 360.
Recently A very good friend and I installed Gorillas in his shiney new 619 and he didnt like lookig directly into the walk thru windshield frame so we went to a Garelick 75090 Swivel/slider that lowered us 3.5 inches down into the boat. Really great for us on prairie and highland water. Big water Pro guys still prefer to sit higher so they can get their legs under them instead of stretched out forward like bass boats. Mark Brumbaugh , for example, is one.

I know from previous experiences that if you are ordering a new boat that you can order the boat without the seat bases mounted. So when you get your new rig all is needed is aligning where you want your GLYDE RYDES just drill and secure with screws. But that was a great ideal for pre existing holes aluminum plating and same color carpet.

Will do John. I'll get it done in a day or 2 and take a couple different angle shots and get em to ya. As to what you said about boat owners being "apprehensive" I can respect that. I did it this way so that when I sell the boat I have the "option" to take the seats with me. I can take the plate off and put the original factory seat base plate back. You can take a simple wire brush and just rough up the carpet a bit and it's good to go. Hutch
